South Salem Nonprofit Restores 19th-Century Hooked Rug

The rug and a mid-19th-century sampler made by Anna Marie Resseguie were restored thanks to community donations received through this spring's FC Gives, a 24-hour online fundraiser sponsored by the Fairfield County Community Foundation, according to a press release. The restoration work was done by the Textile Conservation Workshop in South Salem, N.Y. Mounted and enclosed in a protective Plexiglas case, the rug is on display in the museum's upstairs Assembly Room.
