A quick-thinking witness took a cellphone photograph of the license plate of the car that struck and flipped a 50-year-old man from South Salem, N.Y., who was crossing a street in Stamford early Friday, police said. The pedestrian was taken to Stamford Hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit with several serious cuts to his head and face.
